Meet the Transplant Living Story of Hope Video Contest Winners

Transplant Living received more than 12,000 votes during the month of November to decide the site’s favorite video from a transplant recipient. The story with the most votes was Nefeterius McPerson, a liver recipient from Killeen, TX.

In 2005, during her first year of law school, she was diagnosed with Secondary Schlerosing Cholangitis, a rare bile duct liver disease. In May 2011, while working in Washington, D.C., Nefeterius' condition worsened and she was put on the national waiting list for a liver.

After only 172 days of waiting, she received a liver transplant on November 6, 2011. Her donor was a 12-year-old, Taitlyn Hughes, who died of a sudden brain hemorrhage. Nefeterius made a vow to keep Taitlyn's memory alive and spread awareness about the importance of organ donation, creating a public Facebook page to tell her story. Learn more >
