Donor Memorial

The National Donor Memorial honors America's organ and tissue donors and their families. It also highlights the impact of their gift of life and underscores the critical importance of increasing organ donation.

The theme of the memorial is Hope, Renewal, Transformation. A volunteer committee of organ donor family members, living donors, and transplant recipients from across the country incorporated this theme into the memorial's three components, which include:

  • a 10,000 square foot walkway and memorial garden that symbolically leads visitors through the organ and tissue donation experience.
  • an online commemoration at www.donormemorial.org that houses Internet-based tributes and photographs of donors from across the country.
  • an interactive kiosk exhibit in UNOS' lobby that promotes the memorial garden and online commemoration.

To participate in this national "thank you" to the thousands of men, women and children whose selfless gifts have saved so many lives, simply:

  • Visit us at the Donor Memorial at the UNOS headquarters in Richmond, VA.
  • Enjoy the tributes made to organ and tissue donors at the Memorial Web site, and add your tribute and photograph to an organ/tissue donor online.
  • Make a financial contribution towards the perpetuity of the garden and the online Memorial. UNOS is building this Memorial entirely through charitable contributions.
